Hi everyone,
I’ll be moving to Hangzhou, China in a little over a month to do a postdoc. Does anything know what VPN I should be using there? From a google search, it seems that people are recommending Express VPN but I get the impression that a lot of these recommendations were sponsored.
Thanks!
Mullvad is also prettygood, you can sent them an envelope with cash if you want to stay anonymous.
Fourthing. I am not aware of another service that approaches their technical ability and practice.
You need one that supports ShadowSocks. Nord, Surfshark, express vpn, windscribe all have it.
Regular OpenVPN maybe blocked. Surfshark which I’ve used in the past had “Stealth” mode which modifies packets so it’s not blocked by GFW.
WindScribe has a single location plan for 2 dollar a month, maybe go for Hong Kong location?
Maybe use one that isn’t from a western company and isn’t hosted in a western country.
I use surfshark and I’ve been very pleased with it.
