Liberals are literally incapable of thinking about revolution in their country. The new line is that Joe Manchin will vote for judges that are pro-choice.

Nothing has changed for libs. 2 months ago was ‘argh i hate him but at least he’s not repo and he’s confirming judges’, and it’s the same shit now.

Ah yes the judiciary. The institution which has definitely proven itself reliable in implementing the Democratic program.

Most Dems would consider the filibuster enough of a fig leaf to cover not doing anything on Roe. But now they have two fig leaves.

He can’t even contribute the 50th vote, while keeping the filibuster, making sure it doesn’t pass anyway? Love it!

Because the only people who know enough about him to care AND hate his guts are lib civility fetishists who will ardently explain at length how, no really you guys, he’s not the WORST option

Well, see, he could be a Republican who votes against every Dem bill rather than a Dem who… uh…

I understand that dems are committed to losing but I don’t understand WHY they’re so committed to losing. It must be a cavalcade of independent incentives that lead them to suckin’ so hard.

Because as long as they exist they’re the most-left political option available, and as long as they keep failing they can prevent leftward movement

Is even keeping abortion legal too left for them?

I spose this could be the grim side effect of keeping manchin around — he gets to sink WHATEVER, and everyone else has a direct incentive to make sure he stays in place so he can keep killing things so they don’t have to come out against the stuff they want to pretend they want passed.

Manchin isn’t killing this bill - this bill is DOA already. I think you’re right about it being a side effect, though.

They’re not losing. We’re losing. They’re doing great.

It’s always been about first principles, neoliberals believe any policy that limits, constrains, or disempowers workers is a public good, their reasons for believing this demonic nonsense varies tho they fit into three main categories; people who believe liberal theory, people who are cynical and power mad, and dumbasses who take the propaganda at face value, the rest are just a combination of these three tendencies

Of course you can’t say this shit out loud outside of fundraiser parties because its terrible OPTICS, so they marry the marketing industry and the smart university trained theorists among them attempt to create a fictional division between social and economic conditions as if that makes any sense

These people are wearing masks, they do not believe in empowering workers and they do not believe in progressive change, the majority of them are more cynical than the most doomer-pilled posadist, with a mindset like that, losing under the banner of “the left” becomes a virtue

Yeah like I get the idea that they have to keep being on the rails to keep getting campaign money and votes, but yah know I sorta thing this strat would require them winning SOMETIMES. If you literally just suck shit at every turn people are going to get demoralized and just say “fuck it”.

Because they are inseparably wedded to capitalism while at the same time understanding themselves as being “the left”, the guys who wants to do good stuff for common people.

If they win, being the “good guys” means that they are expected to do good stuff, they even expect it themselves, but their firm ideological commitment to capitalism prevents them from doing it. This leads to all sorts of confusion and disappointments.

On the other hand, losing allows them to claim the moral high ground for free. They get to be people who wants to do good stuff without having to do any of it.
