I kinda just think it’ll overall be like when Trump was inaugurated: Large, but peaceful, protests that’ll eventually and quietly die out.
Maybe a few people will do adventurism, but not on the scale we saw in 2020 with pds being burned down n shit.
I hope I’m wrong I really do, but I just don’t think libs have it in them, even over this
It’ll just be women’s marches parts 2-5. There will be a few more “Jane’s Revenge” style attacks on anti-choice orgs that will end with the FBI doing an entrapment on a bunch of liberal women. In 20 years a bunch of files will be declassified that will show that like 70% of all “Jane’s Revenge” attacks were false flags done by the FBI to demonize pro-choice activists.
I kinda agree, but from what I’ve been hearing people say irl, seems like they’re waiting for the actual decision to go through, like they don’t believe it’s real at this point or that Dems will swoop in and save the day. It could easily get weird if that expectation is shattered for the avg griller.
I am concerned that it may take a whole ass generation until americans realise just exactly why reproductive rights are so important though.
They may end up needing to personally experience via friends and family which will take time
I don’t care what people think, the 2020 summer of love was the most successful the left ever came as a unified force in this country, I mean it all still came crashing and burning down but compared to like occupy wallstreet it actually had an impact on peoples lives.
idk, in recent history sure but I don’t think you can really compare it to the struggles and successes of the 30s, especially since they lasted more than a single summer and had massive effects on the social fabric and politics of the country that lasted for decades
A big difference between 2020 and the 1930s is that back then, American activists were happy to work with foreign powers like the USSR. Today most Americans willing to march in a protest (at least) would still view that as treachery—even to publicly express solidarity with Cuba or something. But the USA is such a big nasty fuckin’ beast, to paraphrase Queen Amidala: “we’re gonna need some help!”
without a doubt. Things have to start off hot and even then the odds that you can keep that going are so low. I cant imagine starting off as cool as it has been so far and somehow it escalating to 2020 levels of anger unless they execute a women for having an abortion or something. Also these protests are way too white. Feels like the people organizing them have spent zero time reaching out to women of color and it shows.
Agreed, the pro-choice crowd is largely pro-:vote: .
