Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Add to the above list if you can, thank you.
Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Yesterday’s discussion post.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy angrily denounced suggestions that Ukraine should cede control of territory to Russia in order to reach a peace agreement, comparing such a move with the appeasement of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany.
Now we’re at the Hitler comparisons, reading this gives me mental images from Downfall of Hitler issuing orders to non-existing armies in order to achieve final victory.
Okay at first it was Zelensky, then western media started calling him Zelenskyy, and now I’m seeing pro-Russian media calling him Elensky. What the fuck is this dude’s name?
Elensky is a joke about him and allied nations banning the letter Z. It’s a derogatory name like Obungler
I’m Zelensky, yes, I’m the real Zelensky
All you other Zelenskys, are just imitating
So won’t the real Zelensky, please stand up?
Please stand up, please stand up
Lots of libs going mask off after Kissinger’s comments about returning to the status quo in Ukraine. They clearly don’t care about an end to the war, or about the well-being and safety of the people in Crimea or the Donbas republics. What they want is unimportant, what matters is that they “rightfully belong” to Ukraine. Pure ideology.
How do they expect the people in crimea would be treated if they were forced back under the ukrainian state after willingly seceding to a russia? We’re lucky that ukraine won’t be in a position to make demands like that.
A lot of Succdems and demsuccs played the troll game of “If you side with Henry Kissenger you’re a bad person” as if politics is a fucking football Match. Henry Kissenger just loves imperialism simple as that
One of many similar stories recently:
"After the Nationalists fled their positions during an attack by the Russian Armed Forces, the bodies of the servicemen with their hands tied and gunshot wounds in the back of their heads were found at their location.
According to information received, the soldiers had planned to surrender, but had been executed by their fellow Nationalist battalion members."

Fucking hell. They were probably just average guys who had been conscripted into fighting a pointless and unwinnable war. They deserved better than to be murdered by fascist scum.

Russian authorities claim that 80%(!) of the residents of Kherson want to get Russian passports. If true, I think this reflects people accepting the situation they’ve found themselves in, rather than being particularly happy about it. I don’t doubt that some significant percentage of people would be happy with joining Russia, but this isn’t, like, Crimea.

Zelensky: “China has chosen the policy of staying away. At the moment, Ukraine is satisfied with this policy. It is better than helping the Russian Federation in any case. And I want to believe that China will not pursue another policy. We are satisfied with the status quo, to be honest.”
Russian authorities claim that 80%(!) of the residents of Kherson want to get Russian passports
ehh that sounds pretty fake. kherson isn’t pro-russian in any way.
What percentage of the population has evacuated? Is it possible that the Ukrainian patriots evacuated and the Russian friendly simply waited for Russia to come to them rather than crossing the front line? If the town was 50/50 and then a 20% of pro UA left and the rest saw what the Azov Nazis were like you could get to 80% acceptance easily.
it went to Yanukovych in 2010, I’m sceptical of the 80% and from what I gather the support is less than in Donetsk and Luhansk but ’ isn’t pro-russian in any way.’ isn’t right either
I think there are many Ukrainians who kind of don’t care about it all as much as either side would have us believe.
If you speak both languages and you have good reason to expect either state to be a bunch of corrupt assholes who does nothing for you, then it is not that big of a deal to you whether the cops has a trident or an eagle on their uniforms. You’d probably just like the whole thing to be over so you can go on with your life.
It’s cope, but what’s he gonna do? Whine about China not sanctioning Russia?
Win or lose, after the war Ukraine is gonna need a lot of rebuilding and I’m sure he’d prefer to have China as an option rather than just relying on the West.
It’s kinda interesting now he grandstands the shit against EU and western countries (“not giving us big boy weapons! Betraying us! Too little aid!!! No no fly zone!!!) but acts like a docile lamb re: China.
