Rich, liberal countries are indeed morally superior and I’m tired of pretending they’re not.

“Developing world” implies that all countries have the same teleological destiny. All nations should strive to be free and prosperous nations and I’m tired of pretending there’s a culturally acceptable deviation from democracy.

This is just a poor argument for a couple reasons. First most of the wars in the “Global South” are internal conflicts driven by ethnic and sectarian tensions which limits what the West can do and this is also compounded by the fact that most of the conflicts are between extremist groups fighting corrupt governments meaning that there really is nothing the west can do to help other than offer humanitarian aid. But the thing that is most shorted sighted about these countries supporting Russia is that Russia and Putin long for the days of great power politics, Putin wants to return to a 19th and early 20th century world of imperial ambitions, spheres of influence, vassal states and great game power plays. The irony is the countries that support Russia would end up like Ukraine in Russia dream world order.

Okay buddy, let’s just ignore things like the IMF and the World Bank. Definitely no imperialism going on from Western countries. That ended in 1959.

Neoliberal has become one of those right-wing subs I notice someone frequently posts in every time I see a post attacking social justice or being unusually fixated on “authoritarian regimes” that just happen to be leftist. Destiny subreddit usually goes alongside it too.

I agree with this brilliant article! In fact, I strongly encourage likeminded geniuses to air out their views more, and especially to the peoples of the Global South. Surely this will endear them to the West and not push them towards the emergent pole…

Yeah, this was only going to end one way. The only Global South countries liberals tolerate are the ones willing to act as military outposts, resource extraction sites, and slave labor reserves.
