Idk man I think the Hellenic Greeks would probably enjoy the MCU. They’d be confused about the lack of sex and everyone’s motivations, but the super-buff dudes punching each other would go over really well.
I finally got around to watching Everything Everywhere All at Once, and it’s kinda incredible that five people with 5% of the new Dr. Strange movie’s budget did far better visual effects. Like, Marvel movies always had shitty plots, but they can’t even keep up in spectacle.
My point is that I’m going to ban Marvel movies and send anyone who has ever made an analogy involving them to reeducation camps
Vfx artist speaking:
I’m not saying you’re “wrong” that Everything everywhere all at once’s vfx are ‘better’ in the sense that they are more effective at telling the story but the reason why owes a lot to intent and the way they approach the filmmaking process.
I could probably write for hours about all the differences but the short version is that the Daniels had a clear vision of what they wanted to accomplish whereas the nature of the MCU means the movie is still being written even in the editing room.
Really…people don’t fully appreciate or notice just how much cgi is in an average marvel movie. Sometimes actors who are making out on camera are filmed in entirely different parts of the damn world. Half the time it’s not even them because it’s cheaper to use digital doubles than pay Chris Hemsworth to come out to do pickup shots. According to some details most of the members of the Illuminati were 11th hour additions. Honestly I sometimes think it’s better to think of them as animated films with live action sprinkled in.
I still think the MCU is an incredible feat of production but yeah…when it comes to real art and craft you can tell which one has the render farm and which one has the artistry behind it.
This is how I see it. Apparently MCU movies’ CGI is done like several years in advance, then when it’s time for the movie to release next, they bring it out the vault and start filming the live action
I haven’t heard that… although it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s happened before. Most of it is prevised out to some extent I’m sure and/or worked on in parallel though…that’s pretty typical.
But like, even when it’s done afterward the machine and schedule dictates can impact the work a lot.
Probably the best example of this is in black panther in the awful playstation 2 cutscene fight between him and killmonger at the end of the movie. Just looking at it…it’s baffling how the movie was released in the year it was. …but of course when you realize they had to ship out what they had asap cause infinity war was dropping in a few weeks…
Did you know that Mark Hamill has never been on set for any episode of the Mandalorian or the Book of Boba Fett? Or even recorded any voice lines? All of his appearances were body doubles and deepfake voices.
Probably just the endless procession of producers demanding changes to feel useful, leading to crunch and cutting corners
When the long covid kicks in :faded:
Didn’t he die like eight months ago because poop backed up in to his brain?
who the fuck is he even talking about what is going on
he’s talking about himself in response to a mark ruffalo tweet where he says bolsanaro doesn’t respect democracy
not to say actors can’t having stances but I’m howling over here that the president of Brazil subtweeted the fbi agent from the “what if magicians were cool” movie
Mark Ruffalo is a long-time Bernie bro who did ads for Bernie in 2016 and 2020. Still a lib, of course, but he seems like a decent guy.
