They’re clearly not very creative if they’re all doing the same exact thing.
Connections and well paying jobs. It’s a lot easier to get something with 6 figures in Los Angeles.
With remote work becoming a thing it’s going to change though. The fires/heat/traffic/obscene rents/human misery have gotten especially bad since COVID and a lot of creatives who can work remote are either leaving or planning to.
Artists don’t work well in stressful environments. I have comrades who managed to buy property in LA and they’re already panicking about being stuck there.
Connections, the concentration of money, fairly good QoL as long as you make above a certain cutoff, the diversity of NYC with one fewer unbearable seasons a year, quality beaches, fairly good weed, and the illusion of space.
