Bambu, maoist. Might as well start with his “Chairman Mao”. Personal favourite is “Comrades”, for its lyrics.

Xiangyu, Chinese ML who raps in Mandarin. He’s angry, hates america, and isn’t afraid to show it. See “Socialism or Human Extinction” and this one recorded in North Korea “Rumours and Slander”.

Blue Scholars, really only their “Long March EP” & “Blue Scholars” album are political. Maoists. They’re more chillhoppy, check out “Proletariat Blues”

Immortal Technique if you’re not already familiar with them

I like Revolutionary Vol.1 but some stuff on it might be cheesy to you idk. Revolutionary Vol. 2 he ups the game and is a really good record.

he also owns his own record label and profits off the labor of other artists and has people working under him. that and using homophobic punches during battle raps was pretty common in the 90s and 00s and a lot that stuff goes hand in hand with getting clout in the rap industry, which has a lot of reactionary aspects to it, which imo doesn’t discount the critiques he’s made in his songs over the years but the dude is a bit of a walking contradiction as a result. i still listen to some of his shit selectively

I don’t know either really, there may be homophobic lines I am forgetting.

There’s a few slurs in his older work, which I believe he’s since apologised for.

rebel diaz is pretty good, not sure if actually a party member or anything like that but has songs praizing chavez and the right to unionize and campesinos. there was a good song of his called contradictions that i listen to in the car sometimes… bambu was already mentioned but yeah also bambu’s pretty dope and has songs on all sort of topics including working class songs and some maoist sounding stuff. public enemy had some cool songs but they are not communist per se

true true. i enjoyed their music growing up. i also loved reading malcom x’s autobiography but at the same time im aware a lot of that is idealism and not grounded in dialectical materialism and that’s ultimately what leads people to incorrect analyses and down paths like saying a bunch of dumb antisemitic shit.

My new name colonizers can’t pronounce

Bounce per ounce, more, what counts?

Kill your landlord, no doubt

Asymmetric, unconventional extremists

Make meaning, cream zenith

Lead with my left, beam freedom

World passport, blood pleadin’

i fucken LOVE armand hammer. they are definitely on the very abstract side, so not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for. but i will never not jump on a chance to recommend armand hammer
