My name on rocket league is “Karl Marx” and if I play for a few hours and don’t have somebody cursing me out the entire time I feel like I didn’t even get the complete experience

I like being Pickle Mao Zedong on military simulators. Every couple matches I’ll get some goober screeching in my ear and I get to bully them.

Granted I’m not really a big g*mer, but Rocket League had THE most toxic playerbase I’ve ever encountered. And I was just playing on Switch! But even with the limited communication options I still had to eventually uninstall it.

I find that hard to believe after dipping my toe into ARMA and Rust.

Never played either of those. I wasn’t saying RL was THE most toxic game, just the most toxic I’ve ever come across personally.

“Why don’t you play competitive online games?”

Take a wild guess why not lmao

One time on another game I was playing with a friend, everyone else in our lobby voted to kick my friend for being black. Never touched that game again

The funniest part: My friend isn’t even black. He’s Native American.

Why do competitions like this even have gendered categories?

Incredibly low number of women who have spent their whole lives playing video games to reach the competitive level. Pro e-sports athletes are generally guys who spent 10 hours a day playing JRPGs or COD since they were 6 years old which most parents would rarely let girls do. Similar thing is happening in motorsports, there isn’t a real reason for the gender divide in skill other than no one taking 6 year old girls go-karting so you have to create a separate racing series to let women drivers develop their skills at a pro level.

Yeah this.

iirc it’s a similar situation with chess. There’s no reason to have separate gender categories other then than women are so often left out when it comes to being taught or trained as a child that they need their own tournament unless they’d often be totally excluded. This is changing and will eventually be unnecessary but for now the best system is to have a tournament just for women but women who qualify can also participate in the “mens” tournament

Crazy how more women aren’t into video games.

Oh well, anyways… here’s PewDeePie doing his best Don Imus impression in the year of our lord 2022.

I mean, a lot of the sports racing and sports gaming people really leverage parents who will throw unlimited amounts of money at promoting their child-prodigy driver/gamer. It isn’t even as though women don’t play video games. Its that parents and promoters don’t consider a Girl Gamer as marketable and so don’t throw good money after bad trying to get Girl Gamer onto a national stage.

The wealth gap on these shows is at least as bad as the gender gap. That’s before you have people devoting their young lives to SWATing Anna Sarkisian for daring to speak about Man’s Hobby.

They’re less likely to be sexually harassed or sent death threats from freaks if they compete in the women’s league

For obvious reasons female type people do not tactially enguage with kinetic gaming situations as often. So the tallent pool is smaller. You are going to have less aces just by the law of numbers. if you want a diverse competitive pool this helps breed talent as there are now spots for women to try for and not have to worry about god awful reddtors as much. Ideally at least

Tell redditors and the rest of the “girls have cooties” crowd that they sound like either reverse-feminists, closet gay guys, or Muslims. That will shut them up real quick.
