What was the original dialogue under “prime minister”?
is venture bros worth watching? heard of it before but haven’t ever seen an ep
Absolutely. It starts the first couple seasons as a mostly straightforward parody of old boy adventure cartoons, most obviously Johnny Quest, but it becomes so much more than that as the show develops a rich and delightful world and ensemble cast. As others have said though, a lot of the jokes are painfully mid-aughts edgy, so your tolerance for that will affect your enjoyment of it
100% It’s awesome imo. Truly unique story and storytelling, and gets better and better as the years go by. It both rags on and pays homage to a lot of the old Hanna-Barbara cartoons, has an endless amount of layered jokes and obscure references, and personally I love how it treats the whole superhero/supervillain dynamic like it’s just another business. The show was created and is written by two absolute weirdos, they do like 80% of the voice acting, the premiere was created in Adobe Flash, and several seasons were animated and colored using OG Technicolor processes, so there’s an artistic element to it too. The whole thing is a real labor of love and it shows. It’s also been nearly 20 years since the premiere and there’s only been 7 seasons, but it hit me during my formative years when I was just a weird kid who didn’t like mainstream shit and it shaped a lot of my humor going forward.
There’s certainly some jokes from the first couple of seasons that are a bit…dated and lame (homophobia, primarily) but it’s an early-to-mid-00s TV show that was on adult swim so :shrug-outta-hecks: so take that as you will. If you do decide to start it up, I always warn people that the first season is a bit of a slog until the last 2-3 episodes, when it begins to find its footing. My go-to introductory episode for skeptics is season 2, episode 4. It’s a banger, no real story spoilers but you get to meet most of the main characters and story elements.
