I really liked the Section 31 arc in DS9 as a treatise on above the law “ends justify the means” cloak-and-dagger black ops/espionage and why it tends to create far more problems than it solves but NuTrek and the edgier part of the fanbase have missed the point so hard it kinda makes me wish they’d never done it. I guess they only would have found another way to put a self insert grimdark edgy subfaction into the universe anyway.
