The conservative party really do seem to be trying to destroy the UK
on the one hand: heightening contradictions :lets-fucking-go:
on the other hand: this will suck for a lot of people and there’s little class consciousness to speak of :sadness-abysmal:
“This year will be harder than last year. On the other hand, it will be easier than next year.”
A good amount of items in my weekly shop are literally twice what they were this time last year.
One rare exception is the $4.99 rotisserie chicken at Costco. It’s been the same price for as long as I’ve shopped there and they proudly take a loss on the sale of each chicken so that you make the trip there. It’s even cheaper than their uncooked frozen chicken.
Issue with Costco is you need to pay for a membership and the fee is only worth it if you shop enough at Costco
People barely scraping by probably don’t buy enough to justify the fee, and also probably don’t have enough money to buy items in bulk Costco warehouse style for months/years of usage
In Bad countries, the government’s poor planning leads to no food
america isn’t even dealing with the actual consequences of the ukraine war and my fucking rent still went up like 20% and I want my landlords to fucking die
I just got a 40% pay increase woops there goes all that, fuckers
