The world governments and ruling classes are far-right.

The general population, particularly millennials and zoomers, are moving left.

Yea, all the zoomers I know are really pro war against Russia…

Most don’t seem to mind going to war against China either…

Many also disappointed that the US left Afghanistan

Many thinks that bombing Iraq and Libya were justified because Saddam and Gaddafi were bad

As a zoomer I get a little frustrated sometimes seeing people here think we’re this vanguard that can save everyone from ourselves in due time. There are more left economic views than among old people, but I promise you all, most of us are not socialists and even for those that are, there is a hell of a lot of work to do educationally. Anti-imperialism is by far the largest stumbling block in my experience.

Earth rotates eastward, in prograde motion at around 1670kph, and around the sun at 107,000kph

If we think of the eastward rotation as rightward movement, then since the rotation is slowing perhaps the world is moving less to the right. I’m not sure if that’s the same thing as leftward movement, but it’s something.

2020 was a new record for shortest year by a couple milliseconds. We’re speeding up I’m afraid

Haha yeah there is some wobble to it, isn’t there? That’s wild. I hadn’t been aware of that before. Thanks. So yeah the short-term tend at the moment is even greater rightward motion even if the long-term trend is a slowing of the rightward spin. That’s kind of depressing.

On average it seems like a gradual leftward shift, but personally I worry whether the trend is too unfocused and slow to affect things too much. After all, there are weapons capable of ending virtually all life that have been sitting around, collecting dust. The leftward shift could snowball though and potentially turn into something, it really depends how well the propaganda can hold up and how much wealth the Western ultrawealthy are willing and able to part with in the short term to shore up their support and whether they are able to attain technological supremacy over all peoples somehow.

It’s safe to assume that the imperialists headquartered in the United States are going to try everything possible to keep the unsustainable sham at home afloat, at least for the mortgage-holding professional class that’s automating all the surveillance tech, war machines, computers, algorithms, and financialization for their envisioned police planet. The longer things drag out, the more likely it is that this will involve recalling investments from Europe, which is probably why Eastern Europe is being setup as the next :freedom-and-democracy: site right now.

It seems like for the US and Western Europe there is probably a much more overt fascist turn domestically looming, which can also serve as a sort of recalling of investments from the underclasses. If the finish line is close, there might be a genuine parting with wealth in order to prevent labour unrest, like what was possible via extraction in the Global South post-WW2, based on the expectation that their technological domination will allow them to quickly recall that wealth.

In my mind, the future is decided by the timing and aptitude of the aforementioned police planet technologies, whether China avoids addiction to capitalism, whether/when the Sino-US War breaks out & obviously whether it goes thermonuclear, to what extent the domestic constituents of current NATO powers like UK/France/Germany are able to be crushed similarly to the US.

In my opinion? Definitely left. The question is how much.

The world is moving left more than ever before not from theory or economic conditions, but the access people have to information and more importantly, communication. The world is fundamentally different today with it being increasingly difficult for establishment capital to convince a nation of people that another nation of people is a threat that must be destroyed. It is much harder to convince a population that their best interest is to destroy and conquer their neighbors on the same scale humanity used to do centuries ago.

There is also a dramatic difference with older generations and younger ones. Younger people have had their formative years with access to the internet while older populations are accustomed to being spoonfed the same old ideas that conservatives thrived on for centuries. Even with a heavily propagandized nation, people simply are not as bloodthirsty as they used to be. Instead the best elites can hope for is apathy instead of enthusiasm of old. Personally I think my parents are fucking weirdos/psychopaths for believing the shit they do, and are a constant reminder that we were wearing powdered wigs not too long ago.

Support for capitalism by the general populace has moved from strong support, to becoming skeptical. Obviously libs are not interested in changing anything yet, but its harder to convince people now that everything is fine :this-is-fine:.

I think a lot of the right wing movements you are seeing are not because conservatism is enjoying a new age of growth. They are being pushed aggressively because conservatives are fucking terrified of what is happening. They know it. That is why there is such a strong emphasis on misinformation because everything thing they believe in is demonstrably wrong. Truth is not the friend of conservatives and increasingly… the truth is what is going to help people survive.
