A lot of tech podcasts is just interviewing some CEO or HR manager who talks about their jobs and some vague security aspects and how to build a resume. I listen to these sometimes to get a idea of what these people want from aspiring employees but it’s often soulless and boring

But I’m more interested in podcasts discussing breaches, responses, etc.

Security now.

I’ve heard a couple Darknet Diaries that were good, but never followed up on the whole podcast. Honestly, I tend to just consume defcon talks or bug bounty stuff on youtube.

Darknet Diaries is entertaining. Definitely way too beholden to the US government, but that’s like 90% of the industry.

Recently learned that a lot of petty hackers are usually teenagers with terrible impulse control and gambling addictions, so when they hit a jackpot they’re likely to get caught because they’re just spending it on sports cars and shit

lol, yep. If you’ve got spare time on your hands, going through the phrack or 2600 archives sometime might be entertaining for you. Lots of young kids doing wild shit back in the 80’s and early 90’s. I was a big fan of the exploits of a guy called Agent Steal who would do shit like take over the land lines of radio shows so he could win their call-in contests There was also the MoD/LoD war that was pretty intense. Kids taking over entire phone networks and shit.

edit: ableist language. Sorry about that, fell back on old habits thinking about the old days.

If you’re interested in the industry side of things but don’t want complete soullessness maybe Risky Business?
