Yes. Nurgle has cast a divine plague upon their code base. Any who attempt to work on it become infected and turn into putrid sacks of grease and bile.
I’m guessing they’ve decided that removing blue checks from people they don’t want to have them is too difficult and will come with too much of a blowback.
So what they will do is sunset the blue check entirely to remove absolutely everyone from it, then they’ll bring in a new system and start from scratch while refusing to give it to anyone that is remotely left wing.
I just assumed he really wants Stephen King’s $8 but I’m sure shutting down leftists is also on the plate.
The premium is a separate thing to verification. A verification system is still a necessity for the site to run properly so it’s got to be something other than just that.
He invents an inherently corrupt neoliberal monetization of an existing system to exploit a majority accepted “norm” of trusted identification of individual users and now claims it’s corrupt.
