It would be completely reasonable to treat an attack on the three gorges dam as the equivalent of a nuclear strike both in the devastation and deaths it would cause. This is legitimately the one exception to the no first strike rule that would be entirely justified.
Day 1: Commit unspeakable war crimes by attempting to drown thousands of civilians.
Day 2: Put poison into the water to kill off any survivors.
Day 3: All ethnic Chinese people are rounded up into prison camps.
Day 802: Democracy and rule of law prevails.
Seriously how do they even think they would give weapons to those areas logistically_ are they literally going to fly over Tibet and parachute weapons. I swear to God people think you can just “do a land lease and send volunteers” like this is hearts of iron

Because it demonstrates the rise of China. The world’s largest dam, an engineering marvel, does not exist in the west. It exists in a place that the west, in its heart of hearts, genuinely believes to be inferior. It’s so obvious. The same exact thing happened in the 80s and 90s with Japan too when it looked like it might even overtake the US economically
In case of #China’s invasion, Taiwan will not defend itself, and the US will bomb Taipei and all their military industry in the first day of invasion. Together with its western allies, #Taiwan will also lose all their scientists and start preparing for reunification with #China.
Unironically if China invaded Taiwan I could see the U.S. taking out the chip factories to hurt China

my understanding was destroying taiwans chip industry and stealing their experts is likely most of the reason america is trying to provoke an invasion right now
