Did Vine ever get replaced? No. The app was gone and so was all the creativity and effort. Tiktok will be similar. The western corpos trying to replicate it are incredibly bad at it. Which is why they’re banning it.
In addition, this will fracture the international appeal of the app. Tiktok is used basically everywhere. But the Amerikan replacement will only be used in America.

I haven’t used it much (I can’t read Chinese lmao) but I did it just to try it and it worked fine, no problems. The APK is on their website, just download and install (this might be Android specific).
That is android-specific because iPhones are locked down. And you can always use vpn.
But that’s not the point. This will remove 99.99% of American audiences and creators and be a massive blow to the content on the app.
Tiktok is the best social media and entertainment platform which is why they’re banning it because amerikan companies are salty that their apps (YouTube shorts, insta reels) aren’t as good.

For iOS, you can just change your app store region, download the app, then change it back.
Alternatively I’m sure you can find the IPA and use AltStore to install it.

if they wanted to ban tiktok and all other social media i would be 100% in favor. this is clearly just the result of a lobbying push by Meta after their bet on the metaverse didn’t pay off
It is no worse than any other social media and in my opinion significantly better. Reactionary thought is not spreading very well on it, the only shit I see succeeding there on the reactionary side of things is look at this cool tank military nationalist stuff which is pretty weak compared to the fash shit spreading successfully on yt and so on.
Tate was massively successful on it and that’s about it. With his imprisonment things improved significantly.
They’re very trigger happy when it comes to leftist accounts tho, they tend to get banned for the pettiest bullshit but like you said they’re no better or worse than other social media in that regard anyway.
