One of the great things about this situation is that if, say, Amazon or Facebook had bought Twitter, you wouldn’t necessarily lump the blame for the bad decisions onto Bezos or Zuckerberg directly, but in this case, there’s literally no one else to blame. Not only did Elon make the transaction himself, as opposed to as an acquisition by one of his companies, but he’s spent the entire time yelling “I am here to fix Twitter! Me! No one else! Just me! I am the one doing this!” Not that I expect Musk fans to make the leap, but it’s still funny.

I mean, this seems like a fairly clear cut case of a Musk fan making the leap.

He just won’t learn anything. He thinks Twitter’s only problem is that he’s not getting a big enough slice.

Look at the framing, though:

The advertisers aren’t paying me”

“I have to pay Twitter

They banned my account”

The complaints are broadly generalized to be about Twitter and the ecosystem in general, but Elon Musk is directly responsible for all of this. Making the leap would be “Hold on, this website started sucking the moment Musk took over and made all these changes. Perhaps he’s he responsible party, given that he’s he one who is doing these things and taking credit for them publicly.”

It didn’t start when Musk took over. It always sucked. But it sucked “more” for conservatives with shit content and a propensity for losing privileges.

Musk “fixed” these problems by playing favorites with reactionaries like CatTurd (up to a point).

But now simply posting prolific garbage to a wider audience isn’t enough. CatTurd wants to get paid like a YouTube starlet from the early '00s, not just crank out Musk’s slop for free.

The guy who runs that account is, like, 60 and was arrested a few years ago for threatening staff at a Walmart with a gun iirc.

Absolutely fucking cracked, with v. strong ‘I am estranged from my entire family’ energy.

No idea, never read RollingStone. I occasionally see a few bits here and there in people’s replies on Twitter.

‘I know I can’t derive all of my joy from the pitfalls of a chud who won’t learn or make things better, but I’m going to take what I can.’

I say as I saunter over to the post with my empty slop bucket.

I think what Musk failed to realize, was that posters like CT thrive on their adversarial relationship to the people in charge, whoever that may be. Their content is driven by this, their viewership is driven by this, all the incentives are aligned for them to be hostile and continue to be hostile, regardless of who is at the top. Musk believes his own hype and thought that his personal charisma would somehow change this arrangement, which is impossible.
