They’re not wrong, but they are missing the point.
Warning shots are not a thing. Gun is automatically lethal violence when you bring it into the fight. If you aren’t going to shoot someone, don’t shoot at them.

that is literally what people with brains do. i’ve worked on multiple farms and, indeed in rural america today, tools and equipment left out/unsecured get swiped.
when you see someone on property, the appropriate response is to “challenge” them very casually by approaching them, waving, being friendly, and ask them if you can help them, what they’re looking for, etc, because property boundaries, service easements, roads/paths and whatever the fuck are almost never marked, so normal ass people can end up anywhere. and frankly, it’s only gotten worse with GPS, because people will confidentially follow that little line, passing signs on gates that say “NO OUTLET, GPS IS WRONG”.
wandering around, patrolling property with a firearm is nutjob behavior and is something people do when they have lost the plot or are into some kind of fucked up, escalated beef with a neighbor or an institution (bank repo, land agent, “the law”, etc).
