What are your experiences? A lot of mine tie into “just be a white cis dude” theory so I want to know. I drink in public and shit so cool people talk to me often
the difference between whether or not members of the lumpen are willing to hang out with me and whether or not members of the lumpen try to chase me down with a hypodermic needle is entirely based on whether I am currently dressed cis.
The bourg really fucking ruined these people, it’s so tragic. I know they’re my comrades but as a queer person it’s extremely dangerous to organize with them and it’s best left to non-marginalized proles until we start making some actual inroads :deeper-sadness:
Jesus that’s brutal. I’m sorry. I don’t see stuff that bad often. I guess because I am cis and Melbourne/Sydney are less hellish than large US cities. Fuck threatening with needles but I understand why they resort to it (not against you, just generally). Scarier than a gun imo
I always weirdly get along well with various lumpen and criminal elements I meet. I’m basically the golden retriever of people and so when I talk to people I tend to be very genuine and enjoy talking about whatever. I was at a party in a rough neighborhood and just clicked with this dude while we were talking and drinking. I had a good time and eventually me and my gf left and I didn’t think anything of it. Until I heard the next day that the guy was the gang leader of one of the main gangs in the area and everyone was legit shocked that I was talking with him and made such a good impression. I just thought he was interesting to hang out with.
I say this while in contrast to whenever I’m around petite/actual bourgie people I just cannot seem to click with them at all. I don’t care about your expensive watch. I don’t care about your trip to Costa Rica. I don’t care about how expensive your purse is. They all just feel so hollow and vapid.
i am the american dream: i am a bald, poorly-dressed and stout older white guy with a not-bright look plastered on my face at all times.
except for very rich people, who seem to instinctively not like me. the gift of fear, i suppose. or maybe it’s just obvious how low rent i am.
I can’t give too much away but I know a guy from Shanghai and we differ greatly politically. We mostly just talk about cool apolitical shit. Sometimes about how Australia sucks. He is at least pro-China so doing better than most Australians
Also he pays for my drinks a lot lmao
I did a job for him once and it annoyed me so much I stopped talking to him for years
We’re cool now. A legal job btw. I never told him but he knows
What’s the go with this site? This story is pretty identifying
I was raised petit-boug, so that one’s easy - I’d take an open Blood or Crip over a boat salesman any day. My town has plenty of all three, if I’m interpreting all the people dressed head to toe in primary red or blue, and the boat dealerships correctly
I don’t really have a lot of opinions past that. I think the US has put a lot of work into obfuscating its class structure, so unless I ever reach the point of methodically organizing people, I don’t have much reason to get more specific than working- or owning-class
People in suits are 100x scarier than people talking to themselves on the street. You’re lost if you don’t realise this imo
Suit guys are middle men, the real demonologists know the devil wears Patagonia/marmot fleeces over button down collared shirts
Spiritually true, though the “suits” here mostly wear high-end hunting and fishing gear. We’re not a small town, but everyone here jacks off about hating “the city” anyway, so the fashion is whatever Stadium Country artists have been wearing this season
I know the type. We have them in Australia too. They drive drunk and don’t respect me in my home fucking town. This is good I guess. Anonymity is desirable
This doesn’t make me sound good but I’m very normal irl usually. Not scary looking. Like 6’1 and lighter than I was in high school. My dad is taller than me lmao
