This is either hilariously true or it’s just made up justifications to increase defense spending even more. Either way I don’t think anyone at Politco has access to actual information about US readiness for a war with China. That kind of info would be very classified and likely in a chandeliered bathroom in Mar a Lago.

My vote is for this… The industrial capacity of China is roughly comparable to the US + Japan + Germany. While relatively poor in domestic natural resources to support this capacity, it would seem they are currently making arrangements to address that.
The whole article hinged on the idea of China starting a war and America will need a deterrent – in Taiwan. China will somehow start a war with America inside it’s own borders.
