Actually, Chernobyl was in the Soviet Union, which is now Russia.
One could say the illegal dissolution of the USSR was Russia’s Chernobyl.
lmao they removed the “User info: Chernobyl is in Ukraine”
it is worth noting that at the level of the soviet union Chernobyl disaster relief was a masterclass in nuclear response and led to a massive reduction of deaths in an event that if not intervened in could have killed millions accross Europe. The fuck ups were all at a local government level aka Ukrainian officials
I’m not saying Chernobyl Season 2 is bad, it looks like a good show actually. I just don’t get how the narrative connects to the first season. They clearly made a completely different show and are using the same name to save on marketing. If that was the plan from the beginning, they should’ve just called it “Infrastructural catastrophies in modern history and the interplay between local development and regional hegemony, a docutainment series narrated by Harry Potter characters.” I can see that taking off on Netflix, and it leaves infinite options for sequels.
:putin-wink: TIME is saying Kiev belongs to Russia
