raping a fan on a podcast. enough.podcast.40: Kristina Sarhadi: “People don’t hang their lives on a music scene, but we do.”

Kristina found salvation in the punk community as an escape from her home life. But when she finally met her idol, the singer of a political punk band that helped shape her values, instead of treating her like part of the community, he raped her. Kristina describes the details of that night, how it changed the trajectory of her life and how she interacts with music.

Kristina Sarhadi is a therapist, reiki master, writer and recovering social worker from New York. She uses her experiences growing up in the NY punk scene to inform her trauma-informed therapy practice and seek creative ways to help her community build empowering relationships, stand up to injustices, and create sustainable change with joy and confidence.

Ngl, those guys gave me weird vibes. Their anti-misogeny songs were kind of patronizing “women have been brainwashed by the media” vibes. It was also weird that they often closed for like, anarcho punk crust and hardcore bands but were themselves liberals and pop punk. Always sat weird.

I’m glad someone in the band did the right thing though, I hope she can find peace.

If you watch the podcast, Anti-Flag were super in to SxE, inspiring many of their fans to do the same. Het!

Then the first thing the singer does after picking up the girl is to go to a bar and order Corona and some weird pickle shot. Yeah, he’s an experienced drinker.

for a moment I thought this was c/fakenews, but now I see it’s not. I hope this woman can find peace and joy in seeing her rapist get his shit wrecked.
