so far i already have a headache only like 2 hours after taking my first dose which is pretty noticeable for me because i like never get headaches, hoping that’s the only side effect i get
Im set to start taking Lexapro tomorrow. The headache might be from Seratonin Syndrome which would be caused from Lexapro being an SSRI. The first time I took a med similar to Lexapro I slept the entire day (it makes you feel artificially tired), but the effect disappears after a couple of days.
Seratonin syndrome is usually a pretty obvious thing, as someone who has gotten it multiple times. Uncontrollable shaking, hypertension, shortness of breath, extreme anxiety, and I have schizophrenia so I can’t gauge this, but visual and auditory hallucinations can also come with it. It’s pretty hardcore
Ah my bad. I probably didn’t have it then, the tiredness was probably just an ordinary side effect
Took wellbutrin, was less depressed for a week. Became depressed again
Took prozac, still depressed
I used to take Lexapro, but it didn’t work great for me. Taking a pharmacogenetic test revealed that I am genetically predisposed to not be a good metabolizer of Lexapro (or any other SSRI), so I switched to Wellbutrin SR. That was 7 years ago, it works fine for me.
Side note: Becacause Wellbutrin makes you more wakeful, if you are taking a stimulant ADHD medication, this might be a good time to consider a non-stimulant ADHD medication, as taking a stimulant on top of Wellbutrin might be a little overkill (it was for me). In my case, I take Strattera, it seems to have a synergistic effect with Wellbutrin.
Lexapro helped when I was in a deep funk. However it also numbed me out. Coming off it after 4 years was horrible.
Search for brain zaps. It can be a thing
How did you actually come off of it? I’ve been wanting to try but I’m terrified. And I’m uncomfortable bringing it up with my current s psychiatrist
I got prescribed a lower dose until I had the lowest. Then i split that in half. Then took it every other day.
It maybe helped some, but I still went through hell once I stopped. It was like my brain was re-wiring. It was 4-6 months of brain zaps and extreme emotions until I finally started to level out.
Wow that sounds miserable. I’m on 15mg and have been for 5-6 years. Since then I got diagnosed with adhd and am taking concerta, so id like to.ee how I fare without it but idk how well I can handle months of mental instability. Either way I want to get a new psychiatrist that doesn’t judge me for everything.
