just started taking wellbutrin and lexapro, anyone here got experience with them?

so far i already have a headache only like 2 hours after taking my first dose which is pretty noticeable for me because i like never get headaches, hoping that’s the only side effect i get

I have been on Lexapro for the past month. While I feel quite a bit better overall, I will say that my PMS symptoms have gotten significantly worse, which says something since they were already extremely bad. That’s something to keep an eye out for for sure.

Lexapro evened out my mood enough to make me less suicidal, but eventually I found I felt completely zombified and it was just a new form of bad. Wellbutrin has been the most effective thing I’ve taken but it’s sent me down a rabbit hole of potentially getting diagnosed ADHD as an adult

I would like to echo this comment. I started in just Lexapro - it did even me out but I still felt like my energy was missing so we added in Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin has helped with some of my ADHD, and I look forward to making more progress on that in the coming months.

Anyway, eventually I wanted off Lexapro, so I weened off of that and kept the Wellbutrin because there’s a major issue with ADHD meds in this dumb country I’m in. Wellbutrin by itself (and even with Lexapro) carries a bit more anxiety side effects than I would like but I’m doing okay managing it so far. *Oh, and it seems to also make me irritable af sometimes. That side effect really sucks.

I used to take Lexapro, but it didn’t work great for me. Taking a pharmacogenetic test revealed that I am genetically predisposed to not be a good metabolizer of Lexapro (or any other SSRI), so I switched to Wellbutrin SR. That was 7 years ago, it works fine for me.

Side note: Becacause Wellbutrin makes you more wakeful, if you are taking a stimulant ADHD medication, this might be a good time to consider a non-stimulant ADHD medication, as taking a stimulant on top of Wellbutrin might be a little overkill (it was for me). In my case, I take Strattera, it seems to have a synergistic effect with Wellbutrin.

Took wellbutrin, was less depressed for a week. Became depressed again

Took prozac, still depressed

What is Neurodivergence?

It’s ADHD, Autism, OCD, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, bi-polar, aspd, etc etc etc etc

“neurologically atypical patterns of thought or behavior”

So, it’s very broad, if you feel like it describes you then it does as far as we’re concerned

Rules

1.) ableist language=post or comment will probably get removed (enforced case by case, some comments will be removed and restored due to complex situations). repeated use of ableist language=banned from comm and possibly site depending on severity. properly tagged posts with CW can use them for the purposes of discussing them

2.) always assume good faith when dealing with a fellow nd comrade especially due to lack of social awareness being a common symptom of neurodivergence

2.5) right to disengage is rigidly enforced. violations will get you purged from the comm. see rule 3 for explanation on appeals

3.) no talking over nd comrades about things you haven’t personally experienced as a neurotypical chapo, you will be purged. If you’re ND it is absolutely fine to give your own perspective if it conflicts with another’s, but do so with empathy and the intention to learn about each other, not prove who’s experience is valid. Appeal process is like appealing in user union but you dm the nd comrade you talked over with your appeal (so make it a good one) and then dm the mods with screenshot proof that you resolved it. fake screenies will get you banned from the site, we will confirm with the comrade you dm’d.

3.5) everyone has their own lived experiences, and to invalidate them is to post cringe. comments will be removed on a case by case basis depending on determined level of awareness and faith

4.) Interest Policing will not be tolerated in any form. Support your comrades in their joy!
