I could use some good stories today friends, especially of the job-quitting variety. What’s the best way you’ve ever quit a job?

I worked at a shitty landscaping company while I was laid off from a better landscaping company.

They had us doing fall clean up (normally that just means leaf removal) at an abandoned outpatient place. I’d overheard my supervisor before we left the shop saying “of course they’re gonna find fucking needles” to another supervisor who seemed to not believe there would be biohazardous shit. Of course the crew was not given PPE.

There were clearly homeless people living there/that had lived there at some point (none at the moment thank god) and it was absolutely heartbreaking to bag up blankets from an impromptu shelter and throw out clothes and shit (this was all outside the building btw).

This place hired a bunch of visa workers from Puerto Rico, the guy on my crew could speak very little English and I couldn’t explain to him that he should NOT be handling piles of leaves with his hands; shovels only.

The foreman was a Hungarian bootlicker who instructed me to bag up a bunch of copper laying on the ground behind the building because the owner’s brother wanted it. I refused, I remember shouting “well if [that fucker] wants it, he can come down here and get it himself”

I think the dumbass who sold the job sold it for like $150 (3 guys, 4 hours, company almost certainly lost money on it).

I finished my day and that supervisor I’d overheard called me that night to do some overnight snow removal for a UPS facility and I told him that I quit. When he asked why, I told him he knew exactly why the fuck I quit.

Total shithole of a company that I’d love to parody redact.

Got fired on employee appreciation day for refusing to make pizzas off the clock for the whole staff.

Not quitting, but the small business tyrant i worked under shut down her business when the whole place was cleaned out by burglars. The kitchen staff had to deal with constantly bouncing checks, horrible management (the ingredient suppliers and maintenance people had so many of their own checks bounce they often just straight up stopped deliveries) and shit working conditions. I have a suspicion they were behind it, but of course if they were they’d be absolutely justified. Either way, no snitchin.

God, fuck that sleazy hag.
