The tweet’s wrong, the only Women Superheroes™ movie that exists is Birds of Prey

I just want to clarify that I mean this unironically, Birds of Prey is good folks

Kate McKinnon is a horrible person IRL as well. I know writers who worked with her and she counted how many words she had in SNL skits and threw a tantrum if she didn’t have the most. She also would demand more update characters and frequently said things like "people only watch this show for me " during rehearsals. This is how she ended up doing the Hillary “Hallelujah” opening and why she played RBG so often. Her jealousy is also why Lorne started using older outside performers like Alec Baldwin for weekly roles because she didn’t complain about them.

She would also undermine other less confident performers by pulling a face whenever anyone else spoke to try and steal all the attention she could in the scene. I’m always surprised more people didn’t pick up on her doing that.

By all accounts she was intensely disliked (idk if she’s still there) by everyone except Lorne.

That’s fine, it’s okay to not like things.

I love it, it’s got decent politics (and is at least explicitly anti-cop, with Harley busting up a police station and calling them piggies, one of the only building numbers shown is 1312 , the cop character’s arc being about how the force protects criminals and leading up to her quitting, etc), embraces the idea that Women Hot without being creepy about it (as opposed to the male gaze directorial work I’m used to needing to put up with especially in superhero movies), and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

It’s a lot of fun imo, though I could see how the non-linear storytelling and its more heavily character-driven narrative could be a turn off for some people

Not great. But it was better than Suicide Squad. A lot more focus on Harley and a kind of weaving narrative type story. Ewan McGregor as Black Mask is excellent, though

gal gadot (wonder woman) is a zionist who was in the IDF. Scarlett Johanessen is a garbage human all around but has had some especially bad takes defending her choices to play trans and nonwhite characters, and also defends woody allen (a pedo) unprompted sometimes

It’s the best “DC-verse” movie and it’s still terrible.

When it looked like there might be no Ares I thought it was gonna be based, but no turns out wars are a result of a god making people bad who can be beat up to solve the problem. No issues with society or humans or modes of production, an evil god makes wars happen for the lols.

Imo the movie would have been significantly improved if after killing ares, the war continued as before.

I’m just tired of comic book movies, everyone of them has the same plot, It’s all about “the individual”, all problems can be solved by the protagonist by beating someone up. For some reason I never encounter problems like this in my own life, getting into fights just seem to have negative consequences for most people. Anyway if you want to waste 10 bucks on watching some one beat up the villain of the day (I haven’t watch these trailers do they shit on russian or chinese people? or are we still hating on muslims?) while espousing the virtues of freedom, democracy and capitalism then knock yourself out.

don’t forget the people trying to change things are always evil and the protagonists always fight for keeping status quo

oh, and of course you are never allowed to kill the bad guys even if they’re literally hitler, you’re just supposed to only use non-violence until they accidentally kill themselves and the problem goes away by itself
