Ya probably.

This will be really interesting. A lot of the gay men I know have started dabbling in Republican reactionary territory because they’re comfortable and not that oppressed any more, so it’ll be interesting watching them rubberband back to radicalization because Republicans invalidated their marriage.

Hopefully this makes libs start demanding court packing, see that Democrats don’t give a fuck what libs demand, and ultimately leads to more extreme libs.

I’ve heard plenty of trans folks and bi/pansexuals say that the worst discrimination they receive is from the gay community.

I credit gays for fighting for the safe spaces they’ve deservedly won. But we should hope for more in an oppressive system than for the chance to do the oppressing.

I think the real problem is that one of the sole goals of the LGBT community was essentially “accept us in to the bourgeois marriage construct,” so as soon as that was done, bourgeois LGB people could flake because they can’t immediate gain anything from supporting other LGB people. Pure Liberalism.

There are the folks who celebrate Stonewall and then there are the folks who think Obergfell could have happened without it.

I think Roe might be toast. I get the point that Republicans need to keep it around to get Evangelicals riled up, but frankly it’s no longer in the GOP’s hands. It’s all about how the 6 conservative justices on the court will rule on Roe given a direct attack. I feel 3 of them (Thomas, Alito, and Amy Kevin Garnett) will definitely vote to overturn. It only takes 2 of the other 3, so who knows.

And if Roe is overturned, that’s only the beginning of the fight for evangelicals and catholics. All overturning Roe does is make it a state issue. So probably 35-40 states keep abortion legal, and 10-15 backwards-ass states make it illegal. The next step for evangelicals, and what they will be fighting tooth and nail for, is a national abortion ban. Just need a GOP president and control of both houses to make that happen. And maybe that doesn’t happen until 2024 at the earliest, but I guarantee you anti-abortionists will be pushing hard for it.
