I.e. chop down as much as is profitable only to decry the unfortunate deforestation in 50 years because the stupid poor country didn’t remember to do it sustainably.

In any sane universe, we’d be looking at that prime, old growth forest, looking at accellerating climate change and wondering how we can get more forests sharpish.

In our universe we’re working out if it’d be better to turn it into cheap furniture or cut it back for raising animals for meat.

Capitalism is a dangerous existential threat to humanity.
