“It means Karl Marx hadn’t seen anything yet” - what does this mean?

The television is saying that it is more effective in causing complacency than religion was.

Was a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes in middle school, and I distinctly remember asking my Mom who Karl Marx was because of that last strip.

Little Billy, you may find that as you get older you begin to grow hair in strange places, your body starts to change, and you’ll become interested in the ownership of the means of production.

It completely flew over my head that Calvin was reading Mao until just now.

Yep, wow. The amount of shit that I did not get in these comics as a seven year old and I still fucking loved them. Watterson has a sharp pen.

Trying to read but struggling to understand theory. What a relatable 6 year old.

Shouldn’t be a surprise that Watterson is based considering how he’s stuck to his “no merchandise” policy and never wavered.

Don’t speculate on Watterson’s politics please.

Just leave him alone, clean and pure.

It’s real, I remember reading these. Didn’t realize it was Mao until today, like the other comrade.

Calvin and Hobbes and the Far Side are what I read growing up and I think they had a formative impact on my politics.

Hell yeah! It’s good stuff for early readers, too. I learned a lot of words from it and it made reading super fun. The characters feeling conspiratorial to a kid definitely helped. I played Calvinball one time and it will go down as one of the best times of my life.
