it’s not gonna be over until vaccine time (if we even get an effective vaccine). the numbers have been obfuscated and confused enough that most average people will start letting their guard down. USA leadership is getting the sacrifice to keep the markets going they’ve always wanted. Three months ago they thought they would have to get the populace to accept it explicitly on those terms (therefore we saw stuff like astroturfed and media-amplified anti-lockdown protests). Now, pro-reopening politicans and allied media have wised up and realised they can just muddy the waters enough and the average media-addled american will forget about the danger and willingly go back to “normal,” thanks to our short attention spans.
I totally agree, but there’s nothing to make me think that our leaders will put effective mitigation measures into place. not much is going to be done because they’re waiting for a miracle vaccine that can also make a bunch of pharmaceutical execs rich
Vaccine time is obviously gonna blunt things, but I still don’t think it’s enough to “save” us. The only way it gets anywhere is if it’s mandatory which will send chuds into an absolute conniption fit
