Whats up ladies, lads, and nonbinary comrades? Last week I said I was gonna start a couch to 5k program today and thats exactly what I did. It was rough but itll take awhile to undo three years of pretty much nonstop couch life.

What were your running successes and failures this week? Any funny/weird stories? How are you holding up?

Remember, its never too late to start! Ill do my best to reply to all the comments in this thread with encouragement.

For those that care about astrology, apparently now is the time to start something new with the conjuction going on. Might be a convenient excuse start running.

I’ve been doing couch to 5k on and off, it’s a good program. Still haven’t finished it, I got to w6d1. I’d like to run at least once every week but ideally twice. I usually start running in spring or autumn but then fall off when it gets too hot or cold. Keep posting the thread, hopefully I’ll join you in running soon. Good luck, I hope you stick to the program! :unity:

Running on a calorie deficit makes me feel so weak. It’s quite uncomfortable. I guess it’s something I power through, though. The whole time I’m thinking to myself how far away the end of the run is. It’s just not that fun.

I guess it just highlights the importance of having a solid, tangible goal. It’s not like I have a motivation muscle to make stronger, I’m as motivated as I need to be to put in the work.

Oof, sounds like a rough time. Remember that it will get easier the more you stick with it, and soon your runs will be less of a slog and your calorie deficit wont even feel like a deficit anymore. Keep working hard, comrade, and try to stay positive when you can! If you need motivation or support, Ill be here!

A bit late to this thread, but congratulations on getting started on your program comrade! It’s always the hardest bit, it’ll only get easier from here

I’ve been down at my folks place this week and it’s almost all hills around them, including a couple of real monsters. I have a weird love for running big hills, even if it’s bloody painful :sicko-yes:

Thanks comrade, I appreciate your support!

Back when I ran cross country in junior high, my school’s track had the biggest hills of any XC course in the area. Everyones times were always like a minute slower, but it made me love the literal ups and downs that come with the journey! Glad youre enjoying yourself.
