The CDC taught us last November that you can avoid spreading COVID by keeping your hands clean.

They're just following CDC guidelines

@glans@hexbear.net I was being sarcastic, sorry if that was not clear. From the picture, it looks like they’re handling vaccines, hence the gloves. If they had a mask nearby, maybe they thought they could take it off temporarily for the photo op, not considering that COVID aerosols linger, so putting a mask on doesn’t make the room safe. Either way, gloves but no mask seems inexcusable, especially in a photo op that sets an example.

You don’t need gloves to handle vaccines… but if you need gloves to do something you should also not have sleeves that cover over your hand. And I don’t like to give hair advice but long, loose hair gets in the way. Possibly this lady has enough product in her hair to keep it stationary. Otherwise, needs a ponytail or a headband or something.

While I’m looking at this photo, there is what looks like a used needle/syringe (the plunger is depressed) sort of strewn on the table. Put that shit in a sharps bin. I can’t even tell if it is a safety needle (but it might be). For some reason media love publish photos of people conducting injections which violate OHSA guidelines by not using safety syringes.

Which is great, we will get some worker exposure to hepatitis and hiv this way. Fantastic. In some of the photos it also looks like they are using massive 20-21g needles for injections. Which isn’t unsafe but it is unkind.

Hopefully a wider shot 30 mins later would show a table that was set up for work and not for a photo… including waste disposal, hand sanitizer, masks etc.
