Anarchists outside of Reddit aren’t like this
This has always been my impression as well. The whole fixation on “tankies” and frothing anti-communism is unique to “anarchists” on reddit. Anarchists irl usually do not have that problem, usually also read theory (including lots of Marxist theory) and usually do actual praxis. Most of the squatters and activists i’ve met irl were anarchists, and they had nothing in common with these pathetic libs on reddit.

That’s because the so-called “tankies” are closer to them in ideology so they interact with them more. Just like how this website has more stuff shitting on democrats than shitting on republicans, because we interact less with chuds and republicans

Yeah I just gave up on internet anarchists. There are some small communities that aren’t complete garbage but overall online anarchism is liberalism with edgy aesthetics.

One of the most extremist, Al Qaeda aligned, groups in the Syrian Civil War is Uighur as well.
I never really browsed that sub, but I remember ML chapos saying it was really bad… after the OG sub got closed down I checked it out and was surprised how bad it was. They’re absolutely obsessed with “tankies” and it seems to be getting worse.

Yeah its the only anarchist space I’ve encountered like that personally. There might be more, but its so bad if I weren’t out of tinfoil I’d think it was an OP. I think its just edgy kids that googled anarchism and don’t know what they’re doing for the most part.
