My poor nephews do the whole typing with their pointer fingers while looking at the board. Need to teach them so can anyone recommend any browser based typing games for them or websites y’all recommend. Preferably free if possible. Older nephew needs to learn fast in order to pass high school. Would love any suggestions.
I still do that
can’t they just take a class in school
wait there’s a typing requirement to pass high school? are they studying to become 1950s secretaries?
At least the one he transferred to. Back when I went 10 years ago I just took a test in middle school. The requirement was 25 wpm and make a powerpoint. Looking for something that can help with his nerves, when he actually practices just now got to like 30 wpm but if he makes a mistake it all goes down hill for him. Thought maybe a game would help.
I don’t have much personal experience with typing software, but Typing Club and Keybr look like pretty solid tutors. If you’re looking for an actual game, maybe check out Epistory: Typing Chronicles or Typing of the Dead: Overkill (both paid, but the PC port of the original TotD is freely available here, and it still runs pretty good in Windows 10).
It really sucks that he’s being forced to stress over something so trivial, especially because the only thing that’s improved my touch typing speed was actually slowing down and focusing on accuracy, making sure I had the movements in my fingers, just like practicing an instrument.
Set the layout to dvorak and tell them to get fucked if they want it changed back
Obviously I’m not really serious, but that’s what I did to myself when I wanted to up my typing skills, worked really well tbh
