I know we aspies like to shit on Sheldon Cooper’s characterization but that’s a much more flattering depiction of autism than whatever this must be. Big yikes if this isn’t just a brief snapshot of the character in motion.
Also I don’t think any autistic person would accept a role in a film where Autism Speaks had any creative or editorial control. Like imagine a gay person starring in a film as a gay character where fucking Mike Pence was consulted by the screenwriter and director.
WHO WOULD EVER THINK THAT CRUSHING A CHILD IS THE SOLUTION TO ANY PROBLEM! HOW WOULD THINK SUFFOCATING THEM WOULD CALM THEM DOWN!
The logic is probably more about just preventing further self-injury than “calming them down”, but the point about massive risk of inflicting injury on them yourself is the crucial part.
