Comments contain typical shitlib responses, but what gets me is the “US isn’t perfect but they’re the most altruistic” one.
How does one claim to consider themselves an advocate for global unity and not see that we have done the most to make that a pipe dream with our anything-BUT-altruistic foreign policy for the last 70 years?
Indoctrination from childhood is hard to throw off. It gets in there deep and goes uninterrogated unless you’re forced to. Basically a bunch of Americans having troubling accepting the horror that is our country and probably to some degree not wanting to engage with the possibility that we could be in someway complicit or benefiting from its imperialism.
True. It was hard for me to kick off the perception that the US wasn’t a force for good, much less that it has actually harmed many parts of the world deliberately. I shouldn’t be surprised at this poll, given the consent manufacturers working nonstop.
Still though, it’s bleak how even people who look forward to a better world are still ensnared by propaganda by those who like the world just the way it is.
