Their entire identity is consumed by “not being American”. Whatever America is, they’ll get on the other side. What makes it worse is that Americans are only dimly aware they exist. Here’s an interesting video that does a good run-down on the topic.
Because there was this famous photo of Obama and Xi walking together. Some clever Chinese person put the photo on top, and a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger walking together on the bottom, and it was a dead ringer for the pair. Of course, mocking the leadership is not allowed in China so the right-wing memer was deplatformed and the graphic banned from circulation. Thus the libs think they’re tweaking China’s nose with the Winnie the Pooh comparison.

??? I’m the one who knows what he’s talking about here. I’ve studied both languages. Nobody calls Chinese characters kanji. That’s a completely different set of characters. Most Chinese people can’t read them.

Yeah, there were a lot of false “bin Laden is dead” stories back then. Hard to tell how many of them were disinformation, how many were CIA ops, and how many were just journalists printing whatever they heard without verification.
