John Brown was right at the cusp of that in his own time. He and the other revolutionaries who fought alongside him effectively set off the civil war, so I’d say he stuck the landing despite being martyred.

John Brown would have gotten along well with George Jackson, who believed that the proletariat were to be found in this nation’s prisons.
