I’ve been practicing piano on and off for the last 6 months from scratch. I don’t really have a super good way of probing my progress, and I should really practice more consistently, but I THINK I’m doing pretty well. Keep in mind I basically started from scratch but I managed to learn how to play the first minute and a half of this, from the actual sheet music, in about a week and a half. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_j_zweO2I0
Any piano players got any experience tips for me? I can’t read sheet music yet fluently but its getting there slightly.
That’s an interesting quote from Anno, honestly kind of insightful cause its very difficult to gauge Anno’s own personal beliefs, political or otherwise, based on his works. Interesting to me in the context of his first work Gunbuster which can be seen as pretty nationalistic in a certain light, considering there’s an extremely subtle hint in some background info that it takes place in a reality where Japan won the Pacific War. Though fairly that was almost 40 years ago and before he felt like his life collapsed. Japanese alienation and art about it is particularly interesting to me, not necessarily for their conclusions cause they generally tend to have pretty reactionary slants, but because of the contrast between rightful hatred of the united states and a past that they outright refuse to engage with. Which of course is probably going to come to head in an awful way.
Also as somebody kinda mentioned below, I find it really funny that people always claim that the Christian imagery In Evangelion was put there because it looks cool, but it’s all associated with the angels which are a literal alien entity coming to wipe out all of humanity based around the dominant religion of the west.
I do find really funny the conservatives saying Biden is making us a laughing stock to the rest of the world. It IS true but like after 4 years of saying the rest of the world are pussies because they don’t like drink dog water like Bolsanaro it just hit different
So I’m trying to do some cursory reading on the situation of Tibet prior to China’s takeover of it, just so I don’t put my foot in my mouth, and its bizarrely confusing and obfuscated for something that only happened 70 years ago. Most defenses for Tibet seem pretty technical over the term “serfdom” and “slave” as being culturally inappropriate, which I understand but it still sounds extremely exploitative regardless of their own citizens perception of it. But also a few western defenses of China seem lackluster in first hand knowledge of Tibet and its language, which unfortunately seems where Parenti drew his knowledge from.
I am course also terminally online, but I can’t imagine the unspeakable levels of Lynchian imagery that must occur on a constant basis in the minds of people that have anime tradcath twitter accounts. Like is it just genuinely schizophrenia or what, is it all just losers who watch Fuentes? What’s even the point of pretending to be catholic
I know literally nothing about Brazilian politics, but does Lula having his restrictions lifted just seem a lil just like tossing us a bone? Bolsanaro seems deeply entrenched within the machinations of Brazil’s corruption for a while now since Lula was exiled and Brazil is a pretty important asset in America’s hegemony that it seems extremely unlikely to me that they’d risk this if it was at all likely he could come back.
So there was a gay bashing murder done back in Belgium in one of my family member’s city, apparently a bunch of white teenagers just lured this guy over Grindr to specifically kill him. My brother just assumed it was muslims because anti-Moroccan rhetoric is extremely common in Belgium, which is only fastened because they do commit a lot of crime, but it just never crossed his mind until I mentioned it to him that your average Belgian fucking hates everyone that wasn’t born within 10 miles of him . Like ffs I got harassed by a group of teenagers in that town cause I was walking with another guy from my family.
I like that every time someone points out how politics like his have made things worse for everybody and that he doesn’t and probably never actually stood for the things he believed in his response is “Um actually I’m making a lot of money to embarrass myself, so who’s the real idiot?” Which I mean, fair enough I guess.
Well thankfully the Monogatari series is completely unproblematic wait no please come back
