I’m wondering what happened to the peace movement of the 80s that the collapse of the Soviet Union could have been handled so much better. Like multilateral disarmament in return for the dismantling of NATO, foreign aid and foreign direct investment that isn’t asset stripping rat fuckery. The cultural momentum captured in films like threads, testament and miracle mile just died when the Americans believed that there was nobody left to harm them except terrorists, PMC predators and “urban types”.

Preferably there would have been a movement to maintain the Soviet Union in the name of stability alone and that would have saved many lives in eastern europe.

I remember the army not wanting to train “ruffians” or something snobbish like that too.

Yes Minister is a very funny show where you are rooting for out of touch and snobbish civil service to stop Jim Packard’s savage neoliberal cuts.

It’s leftist counterpart - a very British Coup is insanely good if not completely utterly depressing.

What difference would new plants make? There already plenty of potential nuclear accidents to contaminate several countries in the event of a war.

Nuclear is still better an option than degrowth or industrializing entire planet with dilute renewables.

There are so many potential public work projects. But if we’re good we will get basic income and DLCs.

If these are satellites then imagine what would happen to flesh and blood astronauts if he didn’t have to kowtow to the “fun police” in NASA.
