Realistically is there any hope that we will build the momentum to overthrow capitalism not even in 10 years but this century? What will it take to stop people from resisting even trying to understand left wing ideas? We can go on chanting “capitalist realism” and how “it’s easier to imagine the end of the world then the end of capitalism” but we aren’t building momentum fast enough to take charge of the situation.

Right now the rich are cutting their losses and are building doomsday bunkers. While you are planning on dying alone on rice and beans the chuds are training to slaughter you and have twelve kids. We need a back up plan on the left just to keep our ideas alive. Small pockets of determined leftists maintaining gene banks to ensure the diversity of the species reproducing only at a scale at which human life can be supported on the new earth. It’s problematic as fuck but I’d like to think somebody will be left to rebuild.

It’s also criminal how under-explored our dying oceans are. I’m not saying we shouldn’t explore space but we have a vibrant planet full of life we’re ignoring and destroying while futurists dream of living in claustrophobic tubes.

One thing about the CGTN propaganda is that it is very rural focused. Props for dealing with extreme poverty in these regions sure but it’s achieved with the wealth created in these cities that we hear little of.

It’s not as based as cultural elevation but in the west men’s sheds have had to be founded voluntarily to deal with the isolation later in life created by toxic masculinity and capitalist alienation by working together on DIY projects. They are amongst the few positive developments in mental health and brings them back into the real world and not the fascistic mass delusion created by the tabloid press and social media. People based development must apply to all.

This doesn’t look like it’s around the corner either. Hopefully the EROEI will be much better then ITER’s.

ITER say it will take 50MW for 500MW and that is just starting up the reactor. Not all the embodied energy in building it and future reactors that seem to take a lifetime to build. Just starting the reactor. That is a EROEI of less then 10. It’s a money pit for contractors. Nuclear fission has a mean EROEI of 14 with some saying as high as 75 with centrifuge enrichment. What’s more exciting from China is their innovations in fission like the DHR-400, a simple nuclear reactor like those in universities which will be heating Haiyang city by the end of the year.

Meanwhile in the west we are left to take out “green loans” for insulation and heat pumps for housing we can’t afford. It’s no wonder people have put so much effort into denying climate change, I think they are the only ones to comprehend how miserable emissions cuts will be in the west.

Preppers please stop saying “winter is coming”. Even when it’s appropriate like this post. I don’t have any good woke reason for this, I am just sick of fucking pop culture.

Welcome to the new dark age anyway. I imagine Musk will be milking this for all it’s worth.

I’m sure the idea of being close to other people is what really terrifies people about urbanism.

It would be interesting to see what kind of savings can still be made with a desktop. If it’s a FOSS desktop then a imagine “efficiency” bugs on these FOSS desktops being something Microsoft and Apple worked out decades ago. Most resources are taken up by Firefox and chrome in the end and most software the vast majority of people run is web based.

Haiku OS is a truly efficient desktop system, designed from scratch for multiple processor systems though you really have to develop for it in c++ it’s library.

Would it be that much of a milestone if we can already get more energy out of a breeder reactor or a well placed wind farm or even solar panels?

You know what can be done overnight? Reduce the max highway speed limit to 80KMh and reduce fuel consumption by up to 40%
