So since moving to Tassie I haven’t made any real friends, but in a really weird coincidence someone who I knew because she dated a friend I played footy and cricket with (20 years ago) happened to move in to the same area as I did in Tassie not long before I moved here (5 years ago). We spoke off and on but after she found out about the break up, she invited me out to trivia night with some of her work friends. I am really really terrible socially, was super nervous, and almost bailed. But I sucked it up and went last night and actually had a really good time. I was actually social and talked to people instead of feeling like I didn’t belong.

And we came third so even better.

Just put down a deposit for a wood heater for the living room.

I cannot wait for winter with a roaring fire and scary movies.

So update on that ghost from yesterday. They never came out. I checked all the rooms, no one.

It was so bizarre.

I did discover a former worker here died last year. They worked on the floor above me…

Someone I spoke to infrequently messaged me out of the blue on discord the other day seeking a ‘second opinion’.

‘Here we go’ I think. ‘This should be good.’

Them: Do you think it’s a good idea to travel to another country to visit a boy who just blocked me on discord?

‘Good’ wasn’t even in the same universe as how insane that question was.

Finally got settlement date on the new house. 23rd. And then 2 days later I’m going to Melbourne. I knew it would happen that week, lol.

Boss asks us to think up project work for us to do.

Why would I want to think up more work for myself?

Last week was book week and I was invited to do some writing/book talks at three primary schools nearby and it went so awesomely well. I was nervous - as always, and really wasn’t in the mood for it - but the kids were so engaging and fun to talk too. They asked a lot of questions and really just made the whole thing worthwhile. I tried getting them involved by asking them questions about writing and they showed me some stories they were working on too.

I donated my books to their school library and apparently they’re all keen to borrow them. I also had the books sell out at the local store nearest them and I restocked them and it’s almost sold out again. It’s only 6 or 7 copies but it’s taken months to even sell that many at times so it was really cool and a surprise.

IT Support ticket we got this morning: hi, the keyboard I am using, the backspace doesn’t work. I’ve looked around for another one…oh hang on I cleaned it out and there was a paperclip underneath it. All good now.

And they submitted it, lol.

In other news, it’s so weird hearing about the crazy weather you guys are getting yet it hasn’t rained at all here. We usually get the same weather as Melbs, maybe a day or so later.

And in good news. I finished working on my latest book, and now editing and getting the covers planned for Books 4 and 5 of VDV.

And in more good news, Netflix are adapting another Fear Street novel - The Prom Queen. I am excited!

Hope you’re all doing good.
