1000000%- as a literal Columbia Journalism grad (80k in debt later…), this is almost complete true. There are comrades too, but lots of libby west-wing types. I will say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the class consciousness of some of my colleagues. at least when it comes to how our own office is run
as someone who has organized a tenant union, the person you really want on your side is someone who acts as like a social glue/ connecting tissue in the trailer park. in the apartment building I helped to organize, it was the neighbor who said hi to everyone, knew everyone’s business, and had been there 30 years. If there’s someone like that, they would be a HUGE get, and probably have tons of insitutional knowledge about the place and the people who may be on board/ may not.
I’d approach that person (hoping they exist) and complain about the issues you have been having and ask about their problems.
everything above is great advice too
my partner found her grandfather’s nazi medals (he was a 15 year old mailman in farming towns in north germany at the end of the war) and hid that shit away from her entire (more reactionary) family. We were still creeped out that he kept them though.
I cover real estate for a decent-sized business publication- this is definitely true from my experience covering it. The NAR and other pretty mainstream real estate orgs have hinted as much, though of course the won’t go so far as to actually advocate for the loans to be forgiven.
good luck! I had covid in April, it fucking sucked, but I did some breathing exercises and a whole lot of edibles which helped :) you’ll be A OK comrade
extremely this. I have a lot of lefty friends that don’t really get involved, and I try to find a way to convince them to get more involved, if just for their own mental health. I know I can’t really force them to do something, but does anyone have thoughts about how to help my friends become more active and hopefully slightly less cyncial?
you cropped out the part of the photo that shows its The Smith, which is basically just “elevated bar food” for people with marketing degrees and parents helping them on their apartment even though they make 6 figures
