It’s very easy to feel hopeless and alone right now, I certainly do. What I can offer you is solidarity and love, and the encouragement that the Marxist movement is growing worldwide getting more and more dedicated comrades every single day. If anything you can hang on to the hope that you will get somewhere better some day and join a group to engage in struggle against capitalism.

There’s a lot of fighting we have to do before any sort of collapse is imminent. Stay away from those subreddits. Wherever you go, you will be welcome in the socialist movement if there is one. We need you in this fight comrade, you’re not alone.

I’ve worked on a ton of campaigns. The Democratic ballot line is useful but we have to be clear that it is a tool. Too many DSA people have this idea in our heads that we can fix the Democratic Party, which we cannot. They will always crush and disarm any progressive or socialist attempt to change the party. The answer is the dirty-break: using the Dem ballot line where it’s useful and moving towards the goal of forming a socialist party with mass membership and a real connection to labor. Too much fantasy is concerned with the notion of “great men” in developing their worlds’ histories. Focus on the lives of ordinary people, or gnomes or wizards, and don’t humanize the Kings and Princes and whatnot too much.
