Strategically, finishing off Hamass means administering Gaza themselves, like Israel had before, which is expensive and also pointless, strategically, because–then what? Plus Palestinians now, both in Gaza and the West Bank, consider Hamas to be the only ones willing to defend them–so try administering that., Carrying out a land operation in Gaza would lead to the involvement of Iran and Lebanon in all likelihood, which is also unclear how strategically beneficial that would be for Israel. The truth is that Israel does not have a sane long term strategy, this is a deadlock.
Israel has tried to occupy Lebanon before. They struggle as the Lebanese just fall back and then fight a guerrilla war that then causes political repercussions in Israel due to the high loss of sons, husbands, daughters, and wives. And the Israeli people aren’t that interested
I thought Israel reallllly wanted for the neighbour countries to start a war so they obviously have US support and end up grabbing more land or at least wrecking their cities. Like, those fuckers have nuclear warheads. If I had a nuclear arsenal, thought everyone else subhuman, and really wanted more land and resources, I would absolutely want to go to war.
Yeah but you can’t nuke the land you wanna annex, and there won’t be a direct confrontation with Iran in this scenario, but via Iran’s proxies. Lebanon’s Hezbollah, most importantly, whom Israel are if not afraid of necessarily but they do realize that fighting with Hezbollah, at least the way things are currently is just not worth it.
If you just want them all dead and only care about the resources or the lowly populated land, you would absolutely nuke them. What the rest of the countries gonna do? pout? That’s a big antisemitism right there, you’re gonna face sanctions until the new batch of nuclear warheads is ready.
