Not sure how it works in Russia, but in the US most stores are owned by wanna be/failed jet ski dealers. Fail to see how closing them punishes the west and does anything but hurt the workers there.

I just searched the phrase OP used and it popped up this article

US-based fast-food restaurant chains, including KFC, McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Starbucks, are reportedly at risk amid ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Yahoo Finance reported that these food chains are now unclear as to whether Russia will move to close their restaurants in retaliation to the sanctions imposed by the West for its invasion of Ukraine.

Over the past two decades, these US-based restaurant chains have expanded their presence significantly in the Russian market.

It would hurt the revenue stream/profit those firms can get, which would also indirectly hurt the US by lowering taxable revenue, but considering how many fucking loopholes companies the size of these jump thru, it wouldn’t shock me if the impact on that front was pretty low.

The impact of capitalist owners screaming at politicians about getting their heart attack to order chain closed in Moscow might have more weight

Profits might be down, but that just means that corporate gets to claim higher losses against their revenues this year.

True; they could probably be claimed as extraordinary losses.

Going forward though, it represents a notable hit to operating revenue

“at risk” in the sense of, the location is in the middle of an actual war.
