Yeah the “savages” bit isn’t cool and overall it’s quite inflammatory and pejorative

I started the same as you years ago until I learned how Material Conditions affect socialist movements. Michael Parenti’s speech on the Nicaraguan Sandinistas is very illuminating in that the reason that only “authoritarian” socialist projects are allowed to exist is because they are the only ones capable of defending themselves from fascist invasion.

The millions large anarchist movement in Korea was all well and good, but it failed, and the DPRK was the only one capable of preventing full scale US genocide of the peninsula. The CNT-FAI was all well and good but they eventually formed their own secret police, their own leaders, their own “authoritarian” means to so the very nasty and forceful business of revolution.

The reason you’re getting dunked on is because

• Any logical framework that portrays those who did the Holocaust and those who ended the Holocaust in any way similar is a useless and genocide-denying framework

• Socialist countries are shaped by the material reality of their time, I.e. the total war they face from the rest of the world, requiring war-like actions in return

• The “authoritarianism” a socialist state is capable of is nowhere near the authoritarianism that capitalist and bourgeois-led states commit constantly through political control of their people and excesses that lead to the social death of many hundreds of millions. I don’t know what else to call you if you seriously think Xi and Nazis are equally bad.

the curse of every revolutionary is to be regarded as a hero when they hold no power and to be regarded as a monster once they actually take it. you might want to reflect on why that is.
