I also don’t think Americans would ever accept a one-party state led by a vanguard party, so a different model of governance would have to be implemented. Cuba has a no-party state, which might be influential.

In a hypothetical socialist United States, I would bet that the office of the President would continue to exist, with the same continuity as before. People would vote for them every four years and they would have multiple options and, theoretically, anybody could run.
