For those that haven’t been following the Black Hammer twitter saga, let me indulge you.
Black Hammer are a self described group of “decolonial” communists. They were kind of getting a lot of support for their mutual aid programs early on and even had an interview with their leader on RevLeft radio. Then one day, inexplicably, this dude goes on a youtube tirade that he begins by thanking his “haters” for watching his youtube videos that paid for his new iPhone. He explains the human experiments on Africans on Shark Island (a genuine atrocity) and then says that it was the black Holocaust and schools should have been teaching about Shark Island and not Anne Frank’s diary. Saying that they “had us crying over a Becky.” After this came out he doubled down on the backlash by calling Anne Frank, a European Jewish teenager, a colonizer. He has since deleted his personal accounts, but now his org of like 10 people apparently crowd funded a purchase of 200 acres of land to build “Hammer City.” A commune that will only admit colonized people. Everyone is rightfully giving them shit for their grift and also asking what they plan to do in a semi-arid mountainous region for self-reliance, and they are responding by saying they will burn Anne Frank’s diary.
Great stuff.
I think Anne Frank can claim the title victim of racism. Also what about the black people who were persecuted during the holocaust
They Black Hammer stance is that they feel bad about the black and POC people (“colonized” in their deviated terminology) that died in the Holocaust, but they’re glad about all the white people that died.
What is it with “maoist” in the US being indistinguishable from ops. (i.e. Austin Red Guard, and this.)
The rise of China has created plenty of Dengists, like this site shows. Austin Red Guards are MLM, Gonzalo Peruvian Shining Path. I don’t know what “Maoists” these Black Hammer folks are, but a Maoist supporting modern China is silly, since Modern China doesn’t even recognize Maoism, and they don’t see the Maoist period of the PRC very favorably.
This is not true at all. Mao Zedong thought is very important and education of the works of chairman Mao is a requirement to join the party. The present outlook on chairman Maos leadership is not uncritical but he is important and respected. It is the common view amongst most people as well that the positive of chairman Mao are larger than the negative.
Dogmatic lines on chairman Mao are anti-Marxist.
The Black Panther Party were Maoists, right? I’d guess these ops calling themselves Maoist is in response to that. Can’t have another BPP, so make Maoism look like a fucking joke.
The Black Panthers weren’t explicitly Maoist, they just bought copies of the little red book and were supportive of that stuff. I think they were most explicitly Marxist-Leninist.
